At Your Request Room Service Dining® at Palmyra Medical Center
ALBANY, GA; December 8, 2009 Palmyra Medical Center took a step toward providing a more positive dining experience for patients as it announced the hospital will offer patients At Your Request Room Service Dining®. This is the first program of its kind in Albany.
Room Service Dining incorporates a traditional restaurant approach to meal preparation and delivery. This innovative concept to food preparation and meal delivery employs user-friendly tools and processes that ensure a more positive nutrition experience.
Room Service Dining will allow our patients to enjoy whatever they want whenever they want, said Mat Gooch, Chief Operating Officer at Palmyra.
Gooch said the hospital wants to make patients meals the freshest and most enjoyable while making sure each patients dietary restrictions and nutritional needs are met. So as long as the kitchen is open, each patient may order an individually prepared meal, just for them and have that meal delivered to their room in 45 minutes or less.
We are confident Room Service Dining will improve the overall patient experience at Palmyra Medical Center, said Gooch. It is our goal to make their stay here feels as much like home as possible, and providing them with a fresh cooked meal of their choice is one of the many ways we will be able to do so.
Gooch also said that locally known chef Tim Underwood is returning to Albany and will assume the role of Food Services Director. Underwood who is a Certified Executive Chef, said he is excited to be relocating to Albany and looks forward to the challenge of this unique opportunity.
I am excited about joining the Palmyra Food Services team and taking on the challenges of a new food delivery system, said Underwood. This will be a growth opportunity for me, and I know ultimately this will be very positive for our patients.
Palmyra is partnering with Sodexo Healthcare, the leading provider of integrated food Services in North America serving 10 million customers per day. The program is scheduled to begin in early 2010.
